"I do" are the two most famous last words. The beginning of the end. But to lose your life for another I've heard is a good place to begin. 'Cause the only way to find your life is to lay your own life down. And I believe it's an easy price for the life that we have found."
- Andrew Peterson "Dancing in the Minefields"
We spent this past weekend in Manhattan, Kansas with Jena and EJ. Their wedding was one of the most kind and loving marriages we've had the opportunity to photograph. We spent the morning with each of them separately. Jena and her bridesmaids had breakfast together and giggled joyously during hair and makeup. Jena was so excited to marry EJ and she couldn't help but tell you how thrilled she was. EJ send a note to her, secretly, for her to read as she got ready. Her smile was ear to ear as she read his sweet words to her. The bond between their family members was obvious in each detail of the day. The bride's veil was made by her mother's close friend, her ring was her grandmother's, they got ready on EJ's family's farm, just to name a few.
Their first look was overwhelmingly beautiful. They met in the hill tops of EJ's family farm land. The view across the Flint Hills was phenomenal, one of the prettiest spots we've seen in Manhattan so far. When EJ turned to see his bride for the first time he was overjoyed. He wrapped his arms around her and held her as they spent their first moments together as bride and groom.
The wedding ceremony was held at Grace Baptist Church in Manhattan. The ceremony was led by EJ's father, adding such a personal touch to their wedding. His father beamed with joy and pride for his son and soon-to-be daughter. When Jena and EJ said their vows and officially became husband and wife their first kiss was so romantic. It was absolute perfection.
We spent the remainder of the evening with them at the Nelson Family Farm. A huge red barn outside of the city in Olsburg, Kansas. It sits in a big field surrounded by trees and a beautiful creek. There was music and dancing and great food and desserts. Their family and friends were so kind and welcoming to us. The day was so beautiful and we were so blessed to be a part of their day. We are so excited to share our favorite images from their day and we can't wait to send them their full album.
If you'd like to leave them a note, please add your comments at the end of the post in our comment section!
